  10. {Get 1 tsp of turmeric powder.
  11. {Make ready 1 tbsp of coriander powder.
  12. {Take to taste of Salt.
  13. {Take 1 tbsp of sugar.

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Chana masala, also called chole masala, is believed to have originated in northern India. "Chana" means chickpea and "masala" refers to a blend of spices used in Indian cooking. It's a popular dish throughout India and Pakistan, with recipes varying by region. And it's also gained popularity around the world.

Steps to make Chana Masala:

  1. Boil chana with salt and water. Strain it but save water.
  2. Heat butter with 1 tsp of oil. Fry ginger garlic paste in it and fry it till it becomes brown. Add onion tomato paste and fry it till it get brown too..
  3. Once it get brown, add curd and cook this till all water from curd get evaporated..
  4. Add all spices. With little water add all chana. And mix it. Add salt, fresh cream, coriander and sugar and cook it for few more minute and serve it with nan or paratha..

C hana masala, chole masala, channay, chholay – so many names for such a simple dish, one that Rick Stein claims is probably "the most popular vegetarian curry in India", and with good reason. Chana masala is a great part of any Indian meal! I like to serve it with basmati rice, and if I'm feeling fancy a side of garlic naan or homemade chapati. It's best when garnished with lots of fresh chopped cilantro, and you can sprinkle on some minced white onion and/or fresh green chiles for a nice crunch. Easy chana masala is an Indian chickpea and tomato curry that requires no fancy ingredients, just a bunch of cupboard staples.
