The ingredients needed to make Baked medu vada:

  1. {Make ready of urad dal.
  2. {Take of chana dal.
  3. {Take of rice.
  4. {Get of onion finely chopped.
  5. {Prepare of green chilli finely chopped.
  6. {Get of ginger finely chopped.
  7. {Make ready of coriander finely chopped.
  8. {Make ready of baking soda.
  9. {Prepare of salt.

I have baked it in donut moulds to get perfect shape. Remove from oven, flip the vadas in the pan (it would be slightly stuck to the pan, but use the back of a spoon to wiggle it out without breaking the crust). Transfer to a wire rack immediately and let cool slightly before serving with a side of coconut chutney and sambar. These baked Medu Vada or Lentil Donuts are full of spicy goodness.

Instructions to make Baked medu vada:

  1. Wash and soak urad dal, chana dal, and rice in water overnight. In the morning drain off all the water..And grind the mixture of dal and rice to a fine paste. Add about 1/4 cup of water while grinding to make the finest paste.
  2. Add salt, finely chopped onion, green chilli, ginger, coriander and baking soda to the ground batter.preheat oven at 220 degree celcius. Pour in the batter in the donut mould (i have got a silicone, you can also use metal mould). Bake at 220 degrees celcius for about 15 mins. Remove and let them naturally leave the sides of mould for about 2 minutes. Demould and serve hot with coconut chutney.

Dipped in a sweet, spicy & tangy yogurt sauce to make a flavorful snack called Dahi Vada! What a game-changer these baked savory donuts are! Kids (and adults) go crazy for this snack! Medu vada is an Indian fritter made from Vigna mungo. It is usually made in doughnut-shape, with a crispy exterior and soft interior.
