Both dahi vada and dahi bhalle are popular North Indian snacks as well as street food. They can also be served as a starter dish. They are also made during festive time like Diwali or Holi or any other special occasion.

To begin with this recipe, we must prepare a few components. You can cook kadhi vada using 23 ingredients and 14 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Kadhi Vada:

  1. {Make ready of Kadi.
  2. {Prepare 3 cups of buttermilk extracted while making homemade ghee OR.
  3. {Get 1 cup of curd and add 2 cups water.
  4. {Get 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds.
  5. {Make ready 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds.
  6. {Prepare 1 pinch of Hing.
  7. {Take 1/2 teaspoon of methi seeds.
  8. {Take 15-20 of curry leaves.
  9. {Make ready 1/2 inch of ginger grated.
  10. {Take 2 of green chillies chopped.
  11. {Get 2 of dry red chillies.
  12. {Prepare 1 tablespoon of oil.
  13. {Make ready to taste of Salt.
  14. {Get 2 teaspoon of Sugar optional if the buttermilk is sour.
  15. {Take 1/2 tablespoon of gram flour (besan).
  16. {Make ready leaves of Coriander.
  17. {Take of Vada.
  18. {Take 1 cup of urad dal.
  19. {Make ready 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds.
  20. {Get 1 of small piece of ginger.
  21. {Make ready 1/2 teaspoon of hing.
  22. {Make ready to taste of Salt.
  23. {Take as required of Oil for frying.

Next you make a second trip to the kitchen to pick up the final touch the hot oil and asafoetida water. Heat the oil and ghee together in a small skillet over medium heat; fry the dried red chile peppers, curry leaves, cumin seeds, mustard seed, and asafetida powder in the the mixture until the seeds splutter. Stir the mixture into the saucepan with the cilantro. Dubki Kadhi or Pani Pakodi prepared from Moong dal,Urad dal or Chana dal is a very delicious dish.

Instructions to make Kadhi Vada:

  1. Soak urad dal for minimum 3 hours..
  2. Once soaked blend it in mixer along with ginger, cumin seeds, hing and ginger add little water.
  3. Once it's blended add salt and whisk the mixture for 4-5 minutes. Keep aside for 15- 20 mins..
  4. Heat oil in kadai, we your hands and drop small portions of dal mixture in hot oil and fry on low medium flame so that it cooks properly from inside..
  5. Once it's golden evenly from all sides remove and keep aside..
  6. For kadi..
  7. In a bowl take buttermilk and add besan and mix properly so no lumps are formed.
  8. In case you are using curd, whisk curd, water, besan properly for smooth buttermilk mixture..
  9. In a kadai heat oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, methi seeds, grated ginger, red chillies, chopped green chillies, curry leaves and fry tadka on low flame nicely..
  10. Add the buttermilk mixture and add salt. If the buttermilk is sour you can add sugar to balance the taste..
  11. Cover and allow it to boil on low flame..
  12. After 4-5 mins switch off the flame..
  13. To serve take 3-4 vadas in a bowl, add hot dahi kadi and garnish with coriander leaves and serve it's a very nice dish to start a meal as it has all flavours 😊.

Mangodi ki Kadi Recipe At times we get bored eating the same vegetables and lentils then one thinks of preparing Kadi. Kadhi with or without pakoras is always a regular at home. When I have time I make kadhi with pakoras and when busy, I make a quick kadhi without pakoras. This Maharashtrian kadhi falls in the later category. Yogurt or curd based dishes are cooling in summers. so I end up making kadhi often at home.
